WHEN your little one wants a new theme in their bedroom, it can take more than a lick of paint to make their vision a reality – but it costs some serious cash.
Popping pots of trendy paint, snazzy stencils and even new furniture in your trolley can add up at the till, but one clever mum has taken matters into her own hands and inspired others to give decorating a go on their own.
Texas-based mum Kaily Mae risked spending a fortune on her little girl when she decided she was ready for a new theme in her bedroom.
But instead of forking out hundreds on shop-bought items, Kaily tested her artistic abilities. She thinks it has turned out beautifully, but trolls couldn’t help pointing out the flaws in her idea.
Kaily – who’s amassed almost three million likes on her TikTok videos – shares a peek at her daily life with her 47,000 followers, and her home decor clip is no exception.
“I’m honestly pretty proud of this wall,” she captions the clip.
The video shows Kaily with a little pot of pink paint and a tiny paint brush as she creates a neat pink flower shape on the white bedroom wall.
Text on top of the video reads: “When your daughter wants pink flower wallpaper but you can’t bring yourself to drop the $$.”
The talented mum uses sweeping motions to achieve the petal effect before carefully filling in each leaf with her daughter’s favourite colour.
Once the paint has dried, she picks up a pot of mustard yellow gloss and uses steady circular motions to form the centre.
The video skips to a few hours later, and Kaily moves the camera back to show off the finished result: beautiful alternately-shaped blush pink flowers spaced around the fresh room.
Fellow mums gushed over the hand-painted design, claiming they’d love to be able to do it for their own children but lack the skill to do so.
“I love this! My mom painted flowers on my wall when I was 5. I’m 27 and she’s thinking about painting over them and I nearly threw a fit,” exclaimed one impressed viewer.

Meanwhile, most followers noticed that the design was strikingly similar to their favourite childhood TV shows.
“Looks like the SpongeBob Squarepants ‘clouds’,” observed one fan.
Another said: “This is giving Lizzie McGuire vibes and I love it.”
Some pointed out that the flowers looked like a classic wallpaper from computer game The Sims, while others said it reminded them of animated movies.
“I love it! It’s giving me ‘Boo’ from Monsters Inc vibes,” explained another viewer.
Whatever it reminds us of, the fabulous design has sent millennials right back to the 1990s.
