Construction firm Robins & Morton Corp. failed to protect its clients and employees from hackers, leading to exposure of their sensitive personal information, a proposed class action filed in California federal court alleged.
The Alabama-based company’s negligent cybersecurity practices resulted in the release of Social Security numbers, driver’s license numbers, financial account information, and other sensitive data to cybercriminals in an October 2022 hack, according to the Thursday filing in the US District Court for the Northern District of California.
