Affordable, easy, delicious: Instant noodles are a pantry staple for a reason.
There are all kinds of ways to jazz up some humble noods, but one trick is taking social media by storm because it effectively gives you two different meals out of one cup – and all you need is eggs.
Topping a bowl of instant noodles with a cooked egg is nothing new – in fact, it’s pictured as a serving suggestion on many packs – but this method involves combining and cooking the eggs with the leftover broth to create a delicious ‘souffle’.
Watch the video above.
The process is simple: Scoff down your noodles, leaving the broth in the bottom of the cup. Then crack in two eggs, give it a mix and microwave, covered, for three to four minutes until the egg is cooked.
The result is delicious steamed eggs you can eat with a spoon – an alternate way to enjoy the broth that isn’t simply drinking it (though, obviously, that is a perfectly acceptable way to go about it).
It’s also a simple way to get more mileage out of your go-to budget-friendly snack, and with the cost of living continuing to rise, tricks like these go a long way.
Many TikTokers, including Adrian Widjy of Places in Sydney, use a cup of Shin Ramyun noodles and simply cook the egg and broth in the same cup once the noodles are finished.

Others, like Jules of @amazingsydneylife, pour the broth into a microwave-safe container and start the process there.
For extra punch, some home cooks add more ingredients, such as a layer of cheese over the top of the mixture midway through cooking, or sesame seeds and sesame oil.
It’s not clear if any one person can be credited with the idea, but it’s going bananas on TikTok and for very good reason.
